I always run 99 ron on mine as thereβs noticeable difference in throttle response, engine feels more lively in general, plus fuel consumption is noticeably lower too. Around here tesco momentum is more consistent than vpower so is recommended by tuners.
My new favourite channel to watch, you've got alot of great tips and comparisons ,Oem+ is exactly the way I'm going with my 330ci as well. If you ever go as far as trying to achieve some NA power from the M54 I'd love to see you take on an N54b30 intake manifold swap, theres limited info out there but its supposed to give some considerable gains of around 30-40bhp
You gotta take your car to the Nurburgring & do some laps. Catch up with Stretton of M539 and his e46. Keep up the great work! Love the e46 vids!!!!
Ok, I did that. Thank you so much for your feedback and input trough your video! The difference on my M54B30 running MS43 it's really noticable. I'm running the sprint booster on my throttle pedal so it's not just the "butt dyno" effect after resetting the adaptations. Insane what a great mod! Thumb up again for the video with the data!
Performed this process exactly as instructed on my 2004 330ci. Its a 6 speed manual, I was getting strange idle drops and the 2800k to 3000k bouncy throttle response. Also felt low on overall power when engine was up to temp. Updated the DME and cleared adaptations, idle is perfect and overall power is back. No more bouncy acceleration at 2800k either. The engine accelerates more crisp and is consistent throughout all RPM's. This definitely works. Results may vary however depending on the condition of your engine. I have 120k miles but the engine has been meticulously maintained. Thanks for the very informative video.
Wicked thumbnail dude ππ You also remind me of m539 restorations (Sreten)... You are both cool dudes. Subscribed!
Discovered your channel earlier today and very happy I did. Great video and information. Thanks!
You've inspired me to try the software updates, thank you! :) I did the ZF auto gearbox last night, and after a bit of a worrying time waiting for the faults to clear it's all good and certainly feels better and less prone to changing around. My MS43 DME is next! Thanks again for your video, it was very helpful! I've only had my E46 325Ci for a few weeks and fixing quite a few mechanical issues with it too, so it's good to be able to fix/update the software as well. Cheers!!
Great vid, all explained and meticulous. Incredible results!
that's actually pretty impressive, very instructive video, thanks for thatπ
D00de, you're magic! Great vids, especially cause they're backed up by data! Cmon, we wanna see if oversized power pulley kits do anything
Hi! I really appreciate your way to share the informations and experiences with us! Keep up with the good work!π
Interesting results. Thanks for sharing! π
While I cannot comment about the software update making a difference performance wise (though it would make sense to have further optimizations), I can confirm that there is a difference between the RON rating simply by looking in the ignition timing maps in the DME -> there are two of them, one for 95, one for 99. And, as expected, the 99 one has slightly more aggressive timing. So, people saying that the engine runs the same with either fuel are simply wrong. Even if you don't necessarily feel that difference, the DME adjusts ignition parameters differently.
Thank you very much man! Updating the DME and erasing adaptations made my 328 go 0.7s faster on the 50-110! And my idle issues are gone
liking the new chill format Tim π keep it up!
Thank you. I love your scientific approach to car tuning. This is how it's done! I wish more people would follow your example instead of trusting butt dyno. Are you going to attempt adjusting ignition table manually? There maybe couple of degrees timing hidden in the safety margin.
Interesting to see if that actually makes a difference on ms43 ecus :D I did this to my ms42 and really didnt notice anything but i might open up the doors to someone like me to get into tuning ms42/43 ecus since it is very simple and quite rewarding :) And Of course the video is great as always! :) Keep it up!
"Bro Science" had me on the floor πππ
