@Mighty_Artobotix

I like this so much better than shows like Untamed, itโ€™s way more approachable and so much less propped up drama. Kudos!

@AussieJill

I don't love snakes (I'm scared sh*tless of them). But over recent years I've developed an appreciation for them. I'm really interested in their behaviour. That big chonky girl is stunning!!

@PeterWark

I like that you don't pretend to not be afraid of what you're doing. "Gonne have to change me undies after that one !" ๐Ÿ˜‚

@rod2308

Love the exotic snakes. I was a big fan of Dingo, very entertaining, but he was always pushing his luck i thought. You are a true pro

Rattlesnake bites can have significant long-term effects, even after successful treatment. These effects can range from localized pain and swelling to more severe complications like tissue necrosis, amputation, and systemic issues like kidney failure. Some individuals may experience long-lasting pain, numbness, weakness, or psychological distress.
Common Long-Term Effects:
Local Necrosis and Tissue Damage:
Rattlesnake venom can cause tissue damage and death, leading to scarring, chronic ulcers, and in severe cases, amputation.
Chronic Pain and Swelling:
Persistent pain, swelling, and numbness at the bite site can be a significant long-term issue.
Neurological Effects:
Some individuals may experience weakness, paralysis, or other neurological complications in the affected area.
Musculoskeletal Issues:
Pain, swelling, muscle weakness, contractures, and deformities can develop in the bitten limb.
Systemic Effects:
In severe cases, rattlesnake venom can lead to kidney failure, rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown), and other organ damage.
Psychological Distress:
Long-term pain, disability, and the traumatic experience of the bite can lead to anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Chronic Kidney Disease:
Kidney damage caused by the venom can lead to chronic kidney disease in some individuals.
"Migraine-like Syndrome":
Some individuals report headache, vertigo, and photosensitivity long after the bite.
Endocrine Anomalies:
In some cases, endocrine problems can arise as a long-term consequence.
Factors Influencing Long-Term Effects:
Severity of the Envenomation:
The amount of venom injected and the individual's reaction to it can influence the severity of long-term effects.
Promptness of Treatment:
Early and appropriate medical treatment can minimize the severity and duration of long-term complications.
Individual Factors:
Age, overall health, and individual response to venom can all affect the long-term outcome.
Examples of Long-Term Effects:
A study in California found that 6 out of 13 patients with rattlesnake bites reported pain, numbness, skin peeling, and persistent weakness in the bitten extremity, lasting from 7 months to 12 years.
A study of snakebite victims found that 5.6% experienced a "migraine-like-syndrome" with headache, vertigo, and photosensitivity.
Some individuals have lost a portion of their intestines due to restricted blood flow and others have gone into kidney failure.
