Narration correction: In the middle of *Rome (Not Roman Empire)

HISTORICALLY FUN FACT:

The reason why it's unclear whether its Stephen the Sixth or the Seventh is quite interesting. In 752 a pope got elected who passed away before he "officially" became the pope. Before his passing however, he did already opt in to be named Stephen, hence he got referenced by sources from up to the 1960's as Stephen the Fifth. In 1961 however it was concluded that because he never officially became a pope it was a better idea to scrap him off the pope list. That is why our bad boy Stephen is now referred to as Stephen the Sixth instead of the Seven.

It has happened multiple times before in our history that the list of popes got changed. There used to be a time where there were sometimes 2 popes "the pope" at a time, which caused for a very confusing... time! But hey, that's for another video :)

@louthegiantcookie

What shocks me is that people actually went along with it. The stories of Stephen screaming and ranting at the corpse must have made his own government question his sanity. Reputations take a lifetime to make, and only seconds to destroy, and digging up a dead guy is a pretty surefire way to tank your entire image.

@inferior3199

It's always funny when one person does something so obnoxious they end up making a rule/law about just to make sure it doesn't repeat even once.

@chefmaikocook5233

Quick fact, Stephen was strangled by another prisoner before his execution.

@mynameusedtobelong

Imagine how hillarious should be someone accusing a arguing against a corpse

@quiltmin

My favorite history channel from now on.

@Iteration456-8_codename_goblin

Fun and interesting, there was no unnecessary time padding and it felt like a proper way to quickly convey previously unknown information

@Backfisch5927

I love the animation, especially little details like the among us crewmate.

@Parodox306

So this chuckle head is the reason why I can't legally argue with ghosts

@liaml.e.5964

Fun fact: the whole "legal" proceeding was named the 'Synodus Horrenda' or the Cadáver Synod.

@VaKaRiS13

Great video and actually very interesting and unheard of history. Keep up the good work

As a Protestant, I saw Squidward pope overlooking Spongebob Pope, and I had to click the video.

@MrBelles104

It was nice to see Pope Formosus get his title back, I wonder who has authorization to grant/strip the title, besides other popes.

@JeuxAleatoires_B

Love the art, made the story much greater
