What makes a good story? The characters? The plot? The fantastic vistas imagined by the reader? I personally think, what makes a story good, is the story's ability to draw you in and be in the moment. A story that can make you smell the bakery down the road, feel the heat of the forge, and cry out of joy, is a good story. You are doing something right when your community around the world reacts in an emotional way. Be it excitement, joy, or utter disbelief.
