The first and last line of defense of Humanity
The emperor protects, hold firm brothers, we're gonna make it, stay safe, well tidings, and don't die
THE PLANET BROKE BEFORE THE GUARD DID.
What is your duty? To serve the emperor's will. What is the emperor's will? That we fight and die. What is death? It is our duty.
"Two battles have I survived now ... Thinking back about "home" ... I just couldn't stand the eternal darkness back on Scintilla anymore. The darkness and the constant drumming of the pipes down in Sibellus ... And to think, I was lucky enough to have an actual bed for myself. A decent job, patching up leaks in the Hives eternally corroding water-circulation system. Yet I simply did not want to live out the rest of my life like this ... thinking the Emperor must have at least a tiny ray of glory for me to stand in as well. So I just signed up ... Two battles ... the second much more horrible than the first. These disgusting Orks ... were they not as primitive as they are ... I doubt we'd be able to push them back. ... Half of my squad was ripped to pieces by a lucky hail of their shoddy grenades ... They are so much more effective than any logical line of thought would have you assume ... The position of Corporal got vacant. And Sarge chose me. ... I should probably feel honored. But I know that I didn't "earn" it ... I just happened to be the next best man around ... ... Soon we will march on them ... most likely tomorrow at nightfall by the way it stands ... My third battle ... the younger lads already regard me as an esteemed veteran ... Ha ... Was it worth it? Would I not rather now be back in my comfy darkness back on Scintilla? ... At least I knew perfectly well that I would never return unlike some of the others. Still ... I am afraid ... I do not actually want to die. And the truth is, I somehow never really believed all too much in the Emperor ... Of course he is the unquestioned ruler. But a God? ... Even if. It matters not ... Only my charged Lasgun is what matters. ... It kept me alive before. It gives me courage. If in anything, in it I do believe. ... ... And something tells me ... The Emperor would approve of that ..."
that first bell toll sealed the deal for me
Incredible. You've done it again! Truly captured the grim war-torn future of Warhammer.
I am finishing some medical and biology research right now and this ambient music motivates me to do my job as best as possible.
wow... fricking beautiful. In encompasses the holiness of a humble Guardsman's beliefs while retaining the Grim Darkness aspect so perfectly
As someone who just transitioned out of service...I listen to this and ask myself, "Why do I still live?" And a voice from the glorious heavens speaks to me and says, "You live to serve the Emperor. You live for duty. You live to fight, and die." This meditation is fantastic! Thank you.
The emperor protects. 💪 Let us deep dive into the grim dark universe of w40k. Love your work😊
Currently reading "Gaunt's Ghosts" from Dan Abnett and it fits really well! Nice work!
This guardian never readed so many holy texts in such peaceful surrounding in his whole life. And after that he truly became ready to die for the Emperor.
The lowly, the loyal, the noble guardsman - the first and final defender of the Imperium.
"Now all of you go. You know your duties. Execute them well. The universe has many horrors yet to throw at us. This is not the end of our struggle. This is just the beginning of our crusade to save Humanity. Be faithful! Be strong! Be vigilant!” - Emperor of Mankind last words
No matter the horrors we will face. No matter the overwhelming forces that stand against us. As long as Emperors light shine upon us, we will march on! Many of us will die, yet we still stand unbreakable, Emperor protects!
As an Orks player, I have a great and deep respect for those who choose Astra Militarum as their faction to play. They're... Just humans: like you and me - brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, all fighting against terrible and unimaginable horrors beyond comprehension. And they do with honor, and courage. I'm convinced the indomitable human spirit burns bright within us. Despite all tragedies, humankind in WH40k is incredible.
I have just started the actual seige on terra, and i can't tell you how many times this has been background music for listening throughout the entire heresy. Thank you.
