@ElectroBOOM

The gasoline filled fire extinguisher reminds me of the novelty fire extinguisher in family guy!

@talljesuschrist1

A gasoline filled fire extinguisher is something The Joker would put in a children's hospital.

@dansintheband

I love how a parody channel turned into an actual science channel, and an entertaining one at that. It's like a nice mix of IDAT and NileRed.

@uzaiyaro

A fire extinguisher filled with petrol is the most cursed thing I could ever think of. Bravo.

@NotFlappy12

Those goggles really add to the unhinged pyromaniac vibe

@I0NE007

I can't believe it's a literal case of "fighting fire with fire" except it's a "fighting super fire" by "body blocked by weak fire" that steals it's resources but is easier to tackle with traditional means.

@SkashTheKitsune

"how do I upset all 4 emergency services and be put on a watch list as a chemist...."
"oh, I know, I will put out fire with fire and see if a cup of water doesn't make the fire worse"

@NoKi1119

Ah yes, a gasoline extinguisher. The perfect metal fire extinguisher that can double as the reserve tank for my 1996 Honda HR-V.
I'm sold.

@mrgreenguy

I don't know how I didn't realize the issue with my explanation. Magnesium burns in carbon dioxide, and gasoline + oxygen obviously makes carbon dioxide lol. It mostly goes out because gasoline is cold and can take away the heat from the burning metal. Until it's not cold anymore of course

@XBW3

"im not going to die"
~"ya but dad will kill you"
lmao

@SomeAdam

your ability to survive your experiments is commendable

@Vikk1577

I never would've thought that gasoline could put out fire. This is the most counter-intuitive thing I've ever seen...

@GantaaOhime

I love the idea of a 9/10 failure rate fire extinguisher where the failures result in just more fire

@RocketBlox789

It's not that the gasoline uses up the oxygen, it's that it smothers and cools the magnesium like water would a regular fire. The reason moving to the spray and drops of gasoline didn't help is because that's worse at those two aspects. If anything, you need more gasoline not less!
I'd recommend dunking a piece of burning magnesium into a container of gasoline (not a sentence I ever thought I'd write)

@smellthel

0:44 That’s the most menacing frame of video I’ve ever seen

@jakeboating

this guy proves australian scientists are the most responsible

@stuartrockin

Fighting fire with fire is impressive, but can you stop my fighting parents with parenting?

@coldkip

I can not forgive you after you killed the hypothetic dog.

@sirnukesalot24

Everything around the experiment casually catching fire has got to be the best prevention messaging I have seen so far.

That's a solid Tim Taylor award right there.

@Blahaj_IKEA

Gasoline putting out fire is like how stimulants are used to treat ADHD
