@christiank.9943

I come from a small town near Berlichingen, the home of the Götz von Berlichingen. In school we read the book about him, "Götz von Berlichingen" by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (definitely worth the read). Afterwards we saw a theatre of the book in the actual Berlichingen castle, his home. It was a great experience but what makes it even better is that a girl in my class actually was a descendant of his, named ".... von Berlichingen"

@avaskaracitta

oh so that's who guts was based on

@ebbethebarbar

One thing only, Götz was not a 'noble hero', he was a mercenary who was paid by the farmers in the 'Peasants' Revolt' to lead them as an army. His contract even said when he finished this activity and when the exact bell struck he the rebellious farmers also suffer their fate.

He was an interesting character, no question, but he was no Noble Samaritan

@cookie2636
