Welcome Back! My name is Caleb Oliver and welcome to my YouTube channel! Today we are going to talk about the pros and cons of working a minimum wage job. But before we start, comment the word “job” below because that is the topic for today’s video. Alright let’s get started!

Okay let’s start with the pros of working a minimum wage job. This list is based on my previous job in retail sales and my current job as an airport employee.

1. Transferrable Skills
Skills you can use at future jobs
And in your future career
You do so much at this job
Count money, customer service crowd control, inventory
Put on resume
Explain how it relates to future job

2. Customer Service
Great skill to learn
Get to learn how to talk to many different types of people
Smile and be pleasant
Small talk
We’ll revisit this topic for the cons

3. Meet People Celebrities
Perk of working at the airport
Doesn’t happen at all jobs
I’ve seen many people
Alicia Keys and her family, Cardi B, Wendy Williams,
Cool to be able to say hi
Have a quick conversation with celebrity
Busta Rhymes grunted at me

4. Get Free Stuff
Discounted merchandise at retail store
Get free drinks and other things people can’t bring through airport security
Tell 3 bottles of gin story

5. Meet nice coworkers
This is the best part
Meet people who become your friends
Bond over the common struggle of work

CONS
1. Many Jobs
Expected to do many tasks
Most that are not in your job description
in another department
Or climb ladder or build red boxes

2. Long Hours/Bad Schedule
12-8 come home too tired to do anything
Or everything is closed so I missed out
Not fun
Miss out on family time
Rest time
Time at church
This is one reason why you don’t want to stay at a job like this too long. More on that idea later in the video.

3. Customer Service Again
People are rude
Entitled
Annoying
It can be difficult to deal with them especially when they don’t appreciate your service

4. Standing all day
Making money for someone else
Waste of time
Better to work this hard at your own business

5. Getting too comfortable
Easy job
Get too comfortable
Stay there too long
You should be moving up
Have a plan so don’t stay too long

Summary: There are pros and cons to a minimum wage job. Overall good start, don’t stay there too long. Rather use it as a launching pad into your career or better yet business you are going to create
