Letterpress printing a Sacramento photo engraving with rainbow ink 🌈

In honor of Sacramento’s Pride March and Festival this weekend (June 14-15), we thought we’d print our most Sacramento related photo engraving in rainbow ink.

The order from left to right on the ink stone at the beginning is red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Some of the inks are oil base and some are rubber base. In this video, Jared letterpress printed a modern photo engraving, made about 40 years ago, that includes the word “Sacramento,”the State Capitol building, and a steamboat traveling on the Sacramento River. You might still see old signs in Downtown with this image on it. This was printed using our Washington hand press, which was manufactured in 1852.
