Jesus Saves-Dallas Holm

Jesus Saves by Dallas Holm. The idea for this song came when my wife and I were visiting a church listening to a guest preacher (their usual had injured himself the day before while working on the ceiling). He was preaching about those who had yet to hear the gospel and said "untold millions remain untold". It was a phrase I'd never heard before so a mental note was made and it eventually became this song. Interesting in thinking back that the song would probably have never been written if not for that lead pastor's injury.

The original title was "Untold Millions" since it was part of that original phrase, besides the fact that there were already several well-known songs titled "Jesus Saves". But the publisher won out, as was usually the case. Still, I've received a little satisfaction from hearing just about everyone who asks about the song referring to it as "Untold Millions".

My prayer is that it reminds us of Jesus' Great Commission for believers to go and preach and witness and baptize, being lights and showing compassion to those without hope in this these days of division and darkness.

"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you."
Matthew 28:18-20 (NASV)

JESUS SAVES
A peasant girl in Mexico
A teacher in Bombay
In Africa a fisherman
A housewife in L.A.
People just people
In every single land
Who've never known the Savior's love
Or felt His healing hand

Untold millions remain untold
People hungry for
The bread that feeds the soul
Multitudes unheard of have yet to hear
We must go, we must preach
We must make the message clear
That Jesus saves, Jesus saves

Across the world from where we live
And right across the street
Neighbors we know very well
And souls we'll never meet
People just people
Trying to find their way
Searching in the darkness
For the light of day

CHORUS

Oh the fields are white unto harvest
But the laborers are few
But by His might the world will know
There is hope in God
There is life brand new

CHORUS
