On Monday, April 14, a magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck near Julian, a mountain town in San Diego County, California. The epicenter of the quake was about 3 miles (5 kilometers) south of Julian, at a depth of about 8 miles (13 kilometers), along the Elsinore Fault Zone, a branch of the San Andreas fault.
The quake was felt throughout Southern California, including San Diego, Los Angeles, and even into Mexico. Residents reported shaking walls and moving structures, but no major damage or injuries were reported.
