Hishikawa Moronobu's "A Woman Looking Back" is an ukiyo-e print from the late 17th century Edo period that captures the momentary movement of a woman wearing a bright red kimono decorated with cherry blossom and chrysanthemum patterns as she looks back while walking. This work was painted with color on silk at the end of the 17th century, which was the middle of the Edo period, and is painted on a long, vertically long screen measuring 63 cm in height and 31.2 cm in width. This video will introduce the work, which is enjoyed as a hanging scroll and is currently in the collection of the Tokyo National Museum, in detail.
