Generally, theories of wellbeing hold that pain is bad for us; yet, we are often drawn to grieve. We also see the inability to grieve as pitiful and sometimes unjust. Comparatively, depression or melancholy, which seem to share similar symptoms with grief, are undesirable "illnesses" whereas grief is not. This video explores what makes grief good for us despite our full awareness of grief’s severe painfulness.
