Can you learn Japanese with romaji?

Do you learn Japanese with romaji or hiragana? Personally I think if you start learning Japanese with romaji, it may become a crutch in the future and might be difficult to break out of it. So, it’s better to jump right into building a strong hiragana foundation at the beginning. Do you agree or disagree with me?
